Danny Boyle turns the birth of The Sun into a riotous Fleet Street drama, with Guy Pearce and Jack O’Connell as Rupert Murdoch and editor Larry Lamb.

London, 1969. Rupert Murdoch arrives in Britain with an ambitious plan to shake up the newspaper business. He finds his perfect partner in Larry Lamb, a talented, restless editor who shares his appetite for doing things differently. Together they take over The Sun and set about creating a new kind of newspaper — louder, cheekier and designed to give readers exactly what they want.

Adapted by James Graham from his own hit stage play, Ink gives Danny Boyle a perfect playground for his trademark energy and visual flair. Guy Pearce is magnetic as Murdoch, while Jack O’Connell brings swagger and unpredictability to Lamb, with Claire Foy also starring. Set amid the pubs, printing presses and bustling newsrooms of Fleet Street, the film captures the excitement of a media revolution while showing how an idea that initially seemed fresh and rebellious would go on to change British journalism forever.

“An irresistibly hooky tale of sex, murder and other very bad behavior, shot and cut with maximum flash and dazzle, set to a driving punk rhythm” – Variety

“Flashbacks and flash forwards abound, archive headlines pulse through the dizzying frames and everywhere there’s a sense that Graham’s talky source material is being hammered into vibrant life by a director whose default setting is adrenaline overdose” – The Times

“Danny Boyle’s Best Film in Decades” - Vulture
