Spotlight Alex Thompson, Kelly O'Sullivan United States 120 min

Sophie Okonedo stars in this warm and perceptive coming‑of‑age story about friendship, growing up and finding your own identity after everything changes.

It’s 2002, and best friends Minnie and Callie are heading into their final year of high school. Callie is confident, popular and seemingly has everything going for her, while Minnie has always lived in her shadow. When life pulls them apart in the most unexpected way, Minnie is left trying to understand who she is without her closest friend. An unexpected bond with Callie’s mother offers her a new perspective — and brings a few complications of its own.

Set against early‑2000's music and fashions, Mouse is a gentle, funny and beautifully acted story of friendship, family and the messy business of growing up. Sophie Okonedo brings extraordinary warmth and complexity to Helen, while Katherine Mallen Kupferer is terrific as Minnie in a film that captures both the awkwardness of adolescence and the confusion of adults who are still working themselves out.

“A rich, emotionally satisfying and superbly acted bittersweet drama” – Screen

“An ultra-naturalistic movie warmed by the summer sun” – The Hollywood Reporter

“The story is emotionally gripping while also having fun and not shying away from its coming-of-age sensibilities. It is a naturalistic gem that demands to be seen” – Next Best Picture
